Our traditional Victorian stone built villa, overlooking the Spey Valley and the Cairngorms, has ample car parking space within the grounds and is set in its own peaceful gardens, in which you are at liberty to wander or sit a while.

 

Breakfast is served in the attractive, sunny dining room and to ensure you make the most of every day, an early breakfast can be arranged when required, also packed lunches are available.  Choose your breakfast from our extensive menu, offering traditional Scottish breakfast using local produce, omelettes, a Glengarry special of scrambled eggs, tomato and cheese on toast.  Smoked Haddock and Kippers are delivered from Portsoy on the Moray Coast and are delicious served with poached egg and fresh bread.  To follow sample our home made jams and marmalades with home baked bread and toast.

 

Our bedrooms are all light and airy, individually furnished and decorated to a high standard with TV, hospitality trays, hairdryers and all the comforts of your own home.

The guest’s sitting room has an open fire for those cold winter evenings, where you can read, play cards and games, or just relax at the end of a busy day.

Returning from a wet day in the hills we have full drying facilities, together with secure storage for cycles, skis etc and a workshop for emergency repairs.

We take a maximum of 6 people and either a double or a twin room is available as a single room.

We operate a minimum 2 night policy in May,June, July, August and September, also Christmas, New Year and Easter.

Glengarry is the ideal base for a Highland holiday offering many leisure pursuits.  Spend a day walking the Monadhliath Mountains, or take the funicular railway to the top of the Cairngorm and experience the fantastic views on a clear sunny day, or maybe treat yourself to dinner at the highest restaurant in the UK.

For the energetic there is Loch Insh water sports close by and we are surrounded by several Munros for the more adventurous walkers and climbers. 

Golfing in the area is second to none and the numerous golf courses are set amongst some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery.

 

Bird watchers will be spoilt for choice with the world famous Insh Marches within easy walking distance from Glengarry, the ospreys can be seen at nearby Loch Garton and if you are lucky you might even see an eagle over the crags of the Cairngorm. 

The River Spey and local lochs provide excellent fishing and traditional field sports, stalking and shooting can all be arranged locally. 

For the winter sports enthusiast, the Cairngorm becomes a ski and snowboarding center over the winter months.

 

Situated in the heart of “Monarch of the Glen” country, you can spend time visiting all the locations used in the filming of the series.

The award winning Highland Folk Museum at Kingussie and Newtonmore is on your doorstep and a visit to Ruthven Barracks is a must.  If you are interested in animals and conservation then the Highland Wildlife Park is close by.  Wildlife is abundant in Scotland and we have a diverse range of habitats in which you will find unique wildlife.  Watch badgers, pine martins, golden eagles, otters, red squirrel and of course red deer in their natural habitat.

Kingussie is now part of the new Cairngorms National Park, which takes in some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK.  It has been created to conserve the natural heritage of its unique landscapes and is a refuge for a wide range of plants and animals.  Glengarry is a perfect base to explore all areas of the Park either at your own pace or with the help of one of the countryside rangers.  The rangers have a superb knowledge of the local area and will advise on every aspect of the Park and its environment. 

If you plan a visit in early August the annual Macpherson Clan Rally is held in and around Kingussie and Newtonmore, with pipe bands, highland games, ceilidhs and much more.

For those guests who enjoy crafts, we have an excellent craft shop in Kingussie with an extensive range of products for a wide range of crafts.  Why not spend a couple of days learning a new craft under the tuition of Pam the proprietor of Crafty Companions and then relax or practice your new talent in comfort at Glengarry.  Your hostess may even be able to help with your new craft as she is a crafter herself, being a member of Kingussie Scottish Women’s Rural and has also attended courses at our local craft shop.

Spend a day on the Whisky trail visiting and sampling the products of the local distilleries.  Many of Scotland’s best known castles are also easily visited from Glengarry and of course, the famous Loch Ness, where after a dram or too you might be lucky to catch sight of Nessie.  Whilst you are out and about during November through to 25th January look out for the elusive Haggis as this is the time of year for Haggis Hunting. 

The superb Badenoch Sports Centre is also situated in Kingussie, which provides badminton courts, fitness suite, table tennis and a games hall and to help you relax after a session in the gym why not treat yourself to a massage or really pamper yourself with a facial, manicure, pedicure or reiki by our local specialists. 

If you are visiting Kingussie over the Christmas period then the Sunday Christmas Shopping day is a must and of course the arrival of Father Christmas and his reindeer on Christmas Eve.

Transport links are excellent with trains both local, long distance and sleeper services all stopping at Kingussie railway station, together with a first rate bus link via CityLink.  We would be delighted to collect you on your arrival in Kingussie.
